RainGain @ IPC 2013
The 11th International Precipitation Conference, organised by Hydrology and Quantitative Water Group and Royal Netherlands Meteorological Insitute (KNMI) in Ede-Wageningen (The Netherlands), will be an opportunity to exchange ideas and expertise on precipitation processes, their observations, estimation, modeling and prediction.
Pierre Tabary from Météo France will chair a session on "Precipitation Observations" (1st July at 14:00), while and Daniel Schertzer from Ecole de Ponts ParisTech will chair the "Precipitation statistics and Climatology" session (3rd July at 9:00). Moreover, 9 researchers will present their work and some of the developments that have been achieved in the framework of RainGain.
Togeth with the posters presented by Guenda Bruni, Ricardo Reinoso Rondinel from Tu Delft, Patrick Willems from KU Leuven and Auguste Gires, Ioulia Tchiguirinskaia, Daniel Schertzer from Ecole des Ponts ParisTech, the following presentations will be held by the RainGain researchers:
- High resolution radar observations of intense rainfall: cellular structures in rain fronts. Herman Russchenberg – 1st July, 14:00 within the Oral Session “Precipitation Observations”;
- New Challenges for Multifractals and Precipitations. Daniel Schertzer, Ioulia Tchiguirinskaia, and Shaun Lovejoy – 2nd July, 11:30, within the Oral Session “Precipitation Modelling”;
- Validation of a spatio-temporal multifractal model of small scale rainfall variability with the help of dense networks of point measurements. Auguste Gires, Ioulia Tchinguirinskaia, Daniel Schertzer, Alexis Berne, Alma Schellart, and Shaun Lovejoy – 2nd July, 12:00, within the Oral Session “Precipitation Modelling”;
- Radar rainfall event reconstruction using Bayesian radar-raingauge data merging: analysis of the associated uncertainty and its propagation through urban storm-water drainage modeling. Li-Pen Wang, Susana Ochoa-Rodriguez, Nuno Eduardo Simões, and Christian Onof – 2nd July, 12:15, within the Oral Session “Precipitation Modelling”;
- High resolution rainfall estimates based on X-band radar technology for urban hydrological modeling. Marie-Claire ten Veldhuis and Herman Russchenberg – 2nd July, 14:15, within the Oral Session “Precipitation in Hydrology and Water Resources”;
- Multifractal IDF and non-conservation of the rain rate. Ioulia Tchiguirinskaia, Daniel Schertzer, and George Fitton – 2nd July, 14:30, within the Oral Session “Precipitation Statistics and Climatology”.
